For sometime now I have been searching for a film that i remember from my childhood but so far haven't had any luck at all. I'm 33 now so i must have watched it late 70's early 80's, maybe even mid 80's. Here is what i remember.
It was a family film could be Disney or similar.
I think it was set in the Californian Great Redwood Forest, i remember the characters driving through a tunnel in a tree.
A family were all off in their car for a vacation or for a picnic. They drove into the forest, the dad/man had a big white beard and dungarees possibly. I think the family were real actors as opposed to animated.
They or at least the children discovered fairies in the forest, they may have been animated but i think they were real actors just made to look small.
One of the fairies was called Violet.
A lot of the film was about the fairies they had some dilemma and ended up learning some moral lesson i think??
I'm afraid that is all i can remember so it's a bit of a challenge for you. I've asked people over the years and searched the net, nobody has heard of it but my sister and i remember it and i'm sure we watched it several times. It was a full length film.
