  • The persuaders!

    Anyone remember The Persuaders! ?

Roger Moore, Tony Curtis 'A pair of playboys with nothing in common but trouble!'

First saw it on TV Heaven with the late Frank Muir describing it as 'the best bad tv show'....then in the mid 90s was repeated every Sunday at 6pm....lush.

Its so bad, camp, ridiculous, full of plot holes and seeing Roger Moores clothes and hair and how fat he was compared to when he went on to do Bond is funny. He even designed his clothes for the show...

I love it because it is ridiculous compared to all the depressing twoddle we have now by and large in terms of tv shows...Its also funny seeing how camp the two are, arm-in-arm sometimes one wonders about the pair as they where always together.....

I'm planning on getting the entire series on boxset DVD sooner or later but thought I'd mention it as I watched an episode last night on one of my DVDs I do have....

Very of its Era, but harmless fun. Personally I prefered the Protectors.. another classic theme

Sung masterfully by the great Tony Christie. You can see him singing it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jj4UFqKG5YI

I've never seen it, but The Protectors was a rare live action non-scifi Gerry Anderson production.

Gerry Anderson production, eh? Well I never knew that. What a very resourceful and versatile chap he is. And he's still going strong in his eighties. Respect!

I used to wach it as a kid. I thought it was so cool and hip...HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The plots were realy kind of simple but stunts were horrible.
Roger Moore was sexy though wonder what he looks like now.

Do a google image search for Sir Rog and you'll see. He hasn't aged well sadly imho. I can't stop laughing at how BIG he was in The Persuaders, his chest was massive. I really like Roger Moore, but he did look like a total prat in The Persuaders, the hair, the clothes ugh! Whats amazing is how slim, sleek and cool he looked a mere 2 years later when he filmed Live and Let Die - his first Bond movie, and his (then) new haircut of short, back and sides' looked much cooler. The guy reminded me of Action Man as a kid, even Mum said so, if you look at him in a military uniform and a Palitoy Action Man in say an Officers get up, you see it.

Incidentally, Rogers BS 1 Aston Martin from the show is still in the UK with the same numberplate having been restored...Terrible colour they chose for it, like baby poo. Lol.
