Yeah I remember this one. Tim Brooke-Taylors character had a wife and family we never saw as a running gag.

I think you could really see what a bloomin good actor Tim Brooke-Taylor was in this series.

I did a bit of reading up on Richard O' Sullivan on Wikipedia. He's only 67 or so. Sadly he had a stroke in 2003. It amazes me that he was immensely popular both as an actor producers wanted and as a celebrity fans liked watching and yet he turned his back on everything at a fairly young age. He's quite the recluse still and is now in an Actors retirement home...I guess he just got sick of it all perhaps...Shame, I liked him and I know my Mum liked seeing him in things like Man About The House and Robins Nest...Funnily, hes on my tv right now in Cleopatra.

I vaguely remember watching Dick Turpin, and really loved seeing it as a kid.

The theme tune was sung by Peter Skellern. I used to enjoy 'Me & My Girl', it was typical of that mid-to-late-'80s type of gentle domestic sitcom under which you could also classify 'That's Love', 'After Henry', 'Second Thoughts' (although that may have been slightly later), and 'May To December'.
"We're the Sweeney son, and we haven't had any dinner!"
