Ghost horse 1970-ish

Does anyone please remember a tv play,possibly part of a series,set in Edwardian times.The story was about a man trying to send a bedridden chap insane (i cant remember why)by frightening him,dressed as a ghostly horse.This plan backfired when a (real) ghost horse appeared and killed the fake horse-man! I was only a kid and it scared the hell out of me! thanks in advance!
