G.H must be a great show why else is there forums dedicated to it.
It is very similar for me too, Darren too. Grange Hill was like a Schoolyou could go to - for me, without the hassle of School in real life terms. You could live your dreams through it, is what I often thought and this made and still makes it so special I think, even if your are not a Child and this is another reason that I think it has such effection by "Joe Public"

There is only one Forum dedicated to Grange Hill I know of - which was ran by a dear dear friend of mine who sadly passed away in 2009. It is a pitty the affection for GH does not run as deep as it is portrayed on the Internet etc I think as as much as many people do love it, a lot of people claim to like it but this is quite mythical to a degree I think in some way's.

Is it genetic or do we all do it ?

Well, as has been said it is still so when you are older. I am a massive Grange Hill fan and still love it, in it's heyday pre-2002 and after 2002 in a way too, it was better than some "Adult TV Programmes", but rightly or wrongly now we have Waterloo Road in it's place. It is like it's roles reveresed in a way, kids watching Adult shows with WR and the whole concept of the idea is the other way round to what Grange Hill was on CBBC. Yeah it's still cool/great to watch Childrens TV when you are not a Child I think.

Not really. I guess they probably think I'm buying them for other people. I haven't actually bought one for a while now, so I can't totally remember, to be honest. I'm always buying old sitcoms and 70s/80s dramas on DVD though.

If nostalgia is such a bad thing, TV programme makers wouldn't also wallow in it and make so many shows celebrating the TV we grew up with. I understand that our parents may not feel as nostalgic because there was less for them, but I've heard the older generation talk about the TV and other entertainment they grew up with plenty of enthusiasm for those times.
As already mentioned, there are a lot of children's TV shows which feature plenty of references adults can enjoy, that go over children's heads. Dangermouse is still very watchable as an adult for this reason, as well as being simply very funny whatever age you are.

im glad you have no shame n watching those shows you mentioned.
i myself watch he man, she ra,DM,inspector gadget etc.

One thing that makes these old shows so good is that they are simple.
    The music is fantastic.

I came across a video of Hatty Town a few years back and bought that to prove to my mates that it did exist. None of them remembered it.

I must admit that I do watch an awful lot of childrens tv in my spare time. It's just not as depressing as the news and makes more sense then the soaps.

Thing to remember is that all the shows we loved as kids were written by adults. That means there'll be stuff in there that you wouldn't have "got" when you watched it as a child but you "get" it now you watch it as an adult. A good example of this is from the first Toy Story film - when one of the toys comments that Woody has "Laser Envy". No kid is going to get that reference but every adult would.

I love that kind of thing. It's about the only good thing about growing up

It's perfectly natural to enjoy kids tv, I know I do. My Trap Door DVD is one of my favourites in my collection

Could be a good thread starter - things in kids shows that kids don't get

    Cheers,
    Finnthedude.
