  • What was this Heavy Metal interest tv show?

All I can remember was it would feature the host interviewing various heavy metal bands of the day (generally no one too famous). The studio would look a bit like a typical living room with the participants sitting on a three piece suite. I think there was quiz type questions for the guests during the show. There might have been a live audience too. It defo had that scaled down feel to it (almost like a heavy meta l equivalent of skinner/baddiel fantasy football league studio).

The host kinda looked out of place (like he was trying to look like a metaller but wasn't really pulling it off). He had glasses and black tied back hair. When he was interviewing his expressions would generally give off a look of about 50% nervous and 50% vaguely amused all the time. I think he may have even been using cue cards when he was talking to his guests. This show wasn't trying to look very slick!

For some reason I have this memory that the host had some connection to Kerrang magazine (maybe he was a writer for them?). Anyway, no luck for me going down that avenue.

I'd say this show was late 90s or very early 00s. I'm guessing it was probably ITV late night friday home from the pub type of timeslot.

I use to read Kerrang quite a lot years ago it sounds like you are talking about Krusher who has also from time to time has made some pretty mediocre heavy metals shows, just googled him and came up with a show called "Noisy Mothers" is this it?

Thanks for your reply. I checked up on Krusher just now. No he's not the fella. He looks far too metal to be the guy I'm thinking of.

The guy I'm thinking didn't have a beard and probably looked a bit younger. I'm thinking he was probably mid-late 20s. Probably a fairly small guy. He looked maybe even slightly latin European too (for want of a better term).

For some reason I seem to remember this host showing footage of himself presenting a Kerrang award to someone. That award ceremony only started in 1999 according to my research so the show I'm looking for was probably on the go around that time too.

(btw I might be totally off on the Kerrang angle, but the description of the guy himself and the show is fairly accurate).

I remember the show - it was called "Popped In, Crashed Out". I do remember that the celeb musician guests did a quiz where the winner won a kebab and the loser got cans of incredibly cheap lager (or the other way round!). Presenter was Phil Alexander - skinny guy with dark hair, ponytail and glasses.

There's a few clips on Youtube.

        Cheers,

Well done, you got it! I knew once you said "kebab" that you had the show I was thinking of.

In fairness I probably thew people off by calling it a "heavy metal" show. Seemed to be more of an indie / hard rock show.

          Anyway, 1000000 points to Finnthedude.
