Sound effects

I've noticed in a lot of old TV programmes they used a stock sound effect for breaking glass. The same one pops up in nearly every instance. Sounds daft once you have tuned into it. Was it too much trouble to have two or three different versions available?

Then there are the classic sound effects like those in Scooby Doo and the like, and those which are still going strong such as

Anybody else have any favourite sound effects or know of any others that appear frequently?

Yes I noticed the BBC seemed to have just one sound of breaking glass.

I've heard in Monty Python, Tinker Tailor, Soldier, Spy, The Young Ones, One Foot In The Grave & I'm sure many others.

The same splash sound turned up a few times, quite amusing when it's used in I, Claudius.
