Upto then all the Breakfast shows had been fairly sedate, apart from the odd whacky guest on TV-AM or Breakfast Time. Channel 4 Daily was very dry even compared to those 2.

The crew were heavily involved in front of camera: I remember Carpet Monster, Rough Bird and - my personal favourite! - Sturdy Girl

Sturdy Girl! I had forgotten about her, she was awesome. Loved the show, it was required viewing when I was at Uni. I really liked Liza Tarbuck on it too, her and Jonny Vaughn were a great double act.

Yes they were! Denise Van O used to own a night-club in Romford, when it was called Time & Envy. It isn't called that now so I don't know if she is still involved...
