Caveman driving me nuts for years!!

Can someone please put me out of my misery and help me.

When I was off school sick (early 80s) there would be a childrens programme on before lunch time and it was some sort of caveman or could have been a viking!
Its not captain cave man!!
This was more of an educational programme about how man evolved.

This has driven me mad for years,I really hope someone can remember,it was about the time that the Australian series 'the Sullivan's' use to be on ITV before lunch time news...Thanks

Hi Guys...Nope none of them...astrix i remember well use to read the books and I just loved Stig..I wanted to be stig or better still Huckleberry fin.

This programme im on about had a narrator telling the story,it may even have been some sort of religious programme or one that was about evalotion animated.
And Im guessing it was part of the educational programes for schools.

The guy in question had a small nose,black scruffy hair bare chest and a wife who had a little baby,I think he lived somewhere hot.

It was for children,animated an I do believe it was a series.
Between 1979-84.
