Magazines about TV

I'm a sucker for a decent magazine on TV shows I'm interested in. I just found out about a new one named Chromakey with articles on mostly vintage sci-fi and fantasy series, what usually get labelled 'cult tv'. I'll report on the four issues they've put together so far once they reach me. I also get a couple digests on old Gerry Anderson programs. I tried a general magazine titled Infinity for awhile but it was a bit lightweight on text and big on images, a failing of many magazines today. I like something with a fair amount of depth and volume, like really decent old Doctor Who fan magazines used to be.

Anyone get a TV related magazine regularly? I used to get TV Zone for quite a long time, but the best was the irregular Time Screen I think. Action TV was good but not a great fit for me, as much as half an issue might be of no real interest. I've read virtual editions of some of the soaps mags but they are super lightweight things really, and there are only two soaps I even watch at all. Maybe a hard-core Coronation Street or Emmerdale only title, including features from their histories, would be more my cuppa.

I used to get TV Zone as well and it's sister magazine Cult Times. I also enjoyed DWB magazine for its Dr Who coverage before they changed into Dreamwatch which covered all aspects of sci-fi and fantast TV. Even the makers of SFX magazine did one called Cult TV but that didn't last very long. Sadly there's nothing these days but Chromakey magazine sounds interesting. Have you had the magazines yet and were they worth buying?

I loved purchasing the Radio Times and TV Times during Christmas time in the late 70s and early 80s. I use to highlight the film's/programmes I wanted to watch.

I get Total TV Guide although since the Lockdown started, I order it from the Unique Magazines website - prior to that, I used to get it from WHSmith or Tesco - at Christmas I also get the Radio Times and TV Times as well.

I suppose a lot hinges on their being something new on that one finds interesting to be in one of the new program centered magazines. I wonder what might've come out on Foyle's War, George Gently, Afterlife, Happy Valley, Mayday, Shetland and Home Fires which I was quite into...

I remember a made-up magazine in The Kabin on the Coronation Street Set when Red Dwarf visited and it was titled 'Nowt On Telly'.

Funny that you mention the Kabin on Coronation Street - in the 1990s there was a continuity error when a magazine appeared on the shelves inside the shop which had Reg Holdsworth on the cover! Reminds me of the PCBH episode where a magazine in one of the women's cells was one where Judith McGrath (Colleen Powell)'s face could be seen on the page!

I heard there was an episode of the Six Million Dollar Man where Steve goes into a toyshop and passes a shelf full of toys from the series.

I watched all the episodes about 4 years ago. I cannot recall the scene.

I've always been fascinated by Magazines, even foreign languages ones I will want to look inside. I remember some at some large international newsstand in Turkish and Greek with their exotic seeming alphabets... also would see a lot of Chinese and Japanese newspapers and comics in certain areas and try to puzzle out how they 'functioned'. If I could afford it I'd probably have over a dozen magazine subscriptions! But I'd mostly like a random magazine of the week service I think!

I've just never warmed up entirely to blogs or specialist websites having articles, e-magazines or digital comics; an awful tree killer, that's me! Oh, this is ending a bit like a Hector's House...
