    Re: The Crystal Maze

I've been enjoying this programme again on Challenge lately. Richard O Brien was brilliantly ott. Mind you, anyone who can write "The Rocky Horror Show" is fantastic in my book. Eddie Tenpole could never fill his (swashbuckling pirate) boots. At least he did make that excellent single "Swords of a Thousand Men."

The computer game version for the Achemedies that my friend had some very tricky tasks, even the anti copy puzzle was hard to get right.

        Re: The Crystal Maze

When I was at college in the first year in Colchester in the early '90s, a girl in the second year went on 'The Crystal Maze'. I watched her get 'locked in' to the room on the second of her challenges - she'd won a crystal on her first. So she didn't get to go in the dome at the end. I remember chatting to her about it whilst we were waiting to use the photocopier at college the day after it was broadcast. I told her she had three minutes to use the copier, and if she made a mistake it was an automatic lock-in. She playfully hit me on the head with some paper.

Unfortunately I can't remember the episode, it was either '92 or early '93 though.

On this subject, here's something you'll all enjoy.....

Just looking up a bit of info on this show and I was amazed to see it was 1993 when o'Brien quit. I thought it was never quite the same after his departure.

I'm afraid I was the same - no Rick, no way.

Looking back though I don't think Ed Tudor-Pole did a bad job to be fair - he just wasn't Richard O'Brien. I did the same thing when Tom Baker left Dr Who. Perhaps some of us are a bit hasty with these things.

Almost the same here, at least with the Crystal Maze, didn't the zones get changes about the same time?

perhaps if ed had done the first few series then richard had replaced him we would have said no ed no way.

Quite often whoever is the first is the one we prefer not cause he was better but because he was the first.

Must say i loved the new zone ocean set on a ship by the looks of it.

Ah - I'd forgotten about the zone set in a sunken ship. One of the better ones I thought.

                                There's some more info here.

Here are the original and revised zones - Ocean replaced Industrial, about which I can't remember much:

Aztec was another favourite of mine. I always thought if I was on the show I'd pick the starting zone so that Aztec came up last as there was something quite relaxing about all that sand!
