The same Walter?

Used to be a schoolkid and watch Hylda Baker in Nearest and Dearest, one character who never spoke was Walter ( "have you bee-een Walter?" ), he just looked mildly astonished and drank ale.

In Emmerdale (when it was a farm) some years later, there was a guy called Walter who never spoke, drank ale and looked mildly astonished all the time.

Was it same person / actor ?

No Walter from Nearest and Dearest was played by Actor Edward Malin, and Walter from Emmerdale was played by Geoffrey Hooper and later by Al Dixon.
