Sky has been discussed on DYR before but I can't seem to find the thread.

A really spooky and well written series. The leaves blowing across Sky as he lay on the forest floor, is an image that will always stay with me.
My abiding image is that of Sky stuck to the ceiling of a cave, flailing around trying to fight off tree roots from above as well as leaves blowing all around him. I must confess I recently managed to acquire a dvd of the entire series from a website called something like tvheaven, it isn't of the best quality but is great as a trip down memory lane!

(I'm not sure it's entirely appropriate for someone my age to still be lusting after 17 year old Marc Harrison but I can't help myself .)
It IS available on DVD, Claudine, I bought it earlier this year! It's obviously an "unofficial" disc, from the quality and format, looks like some fan has managed to tape it off the telly and then burn it onto disk.

Actually, scrub that, I've just tried to find where I bought it from, it seems this series was actually commercially released earlier this year, you can buy it via THE BAIM COLLECTION , which is sponsored by Amazon! They're selling it for £20 on there!

Write up from TV Sci-Fi Encyclopedia

          Sky
Back in the 1970s, when nearly every science fiction series ITV mounted was touted as a rival to Doctor Who, all the best ideas emerged in the children's slots (Timeslip, Ace of Wands, The Tomorrow People).
Sky was another such contender. Written by one-time Doctor Who writers Bob Baker and Dave Martin, it told the story of a young time-travelling deity from another dimension who gets knocked off course by a black hole and becomes stranded on Earth. Though immature, Sky has the power to compel humans to do what he wants. Enter a trio of West Country teenagers, Arby and Jane Vennor and Roy Briggs, who become caught up in helping the blond, blue-eyed stranger to return to his own dimension, via the 'Juganet'. Neither outright hero nor villain, Sky is opposed on Earth by Goodchild, a sinister character who can materialise and dematerialise at will, representing 'the natural opposition of Earth to anything out of place'. Sky's presence has evoked a disturbing reaction from nature - one scene has tree roots trying to throttle him when he shelters below ground. Sky must find the 'Juganet' before the opposing forces grow too strong.
Much of the series was filmed around Stonehenge, Glastonbury and Avebury, giving it an added mystical twist. Of the cast, Richard Speight, who played Roy, had done his own travelling through space and time as the young Time Guardian, Peter, in The Tomorrow People.
Sky, which appeared in 1976, was one of several strong fantasy and adventure series produced by HTV, whose output also included Children of the Stones (1977) and King of the Castle (1978), the latter also scripted by Baker and Martin.

The above is wrong, Claudine, I tried to give you a web address, but the words "baim collection" have replaced what I was trying to say. Let's just say the words television heaven dot com and see if that works!

This is one of those programs I can remember so much from, but could not remember the actual story line at all.The special effects were very good for the time it was produced in.It's mostly these effects that I can remember from the first time I watched it.Sky getting buried by the leaves, being chased by the wind and leaves. The bad guy and the roots and braches of trees and vines grabbing sky etc, etc. All scary and mystifying stuff for a child about 9 years of age.The network DVD is very good and includes all the remaining episodes that remained in the archives.Episodes 3 and 7 have been long lost but the dvd has copys of them taken from the VHS archive dub. These two episodes are poor in quality but does give us the oppertunity to watch the full show again.Network has done a really good job on this dvd.
