Late 70's / early 80's kids show???

Hi,

Hope you can help cos I keep being told I've imagined this show! I was born in '77 and must have been quite young when this was on as I only have a vague memory of it.

All I remember is that at the end there was a grid that the contestant had to cross. They took turns moving across it with a swirly whirlwind thing which they couldn't see, and had to dodge it. If it caught them they ended up at a bus stop in space. And I'm sure it had a green leafy plant which kind of grumbled and shook.

Any ideas?
