animal costumes?? live action weird comedy

I remember watching this show in the early nineties (i think) i'm sure it was on channel four around 5 or 6 on the weekdays. anyway it was an american show with people dressed in animal costumes as the main characters where a family of beavers lived next door to a family of hares. I think the story was set around a wolf type character trying to infiltrate their houses to dig underground or something. It wasn't really a kid's show because it was heavy on the surreal. but if anyone knows... what's the name of it? where can i find details ( if not on wiki or youtube)

thanks!! that's the one! It's Gophers.... you can watch it on youtube in dutch though i haven't found any english versions yet.
