Help! what was this?

Hi all my first post,great site been looking through and brings back so many memories.
Does anyone remember this from late 70's(i think).Was a kids show i think on bbc1 in the afternoon.Its very vauge but all i remember was two kids that used to sit in front of a stage and these statues would turn from stone into people.I remember they used to hide them from the adults,usualy under the stage.I have no idea what it was called,but i still remember it to this day.I know its not alot to go on but does it ring a bell to anyone?

just been searching and it looks like you're right,thanks.Would love to watch it again,though i doubt this would get a dvd release
