  • Long forgotten TV show.

I realise this is a shot in the dark but you never know until you try.

There's a theme tune from a 80's tv show running through my mind, there's no lyrics just a simple tune that was played on a synthesizer. I can't even remember what channel it was on though I suspect it was ITV and it was a current events show of some sort.

As I said I know the tune but obviously I can't humm it to you....however if you're willing to indulge I can give you the first five notes and you can play yourself

    http://www.primaryresources.co.uk/music/piano.html

    Notes are E C G A C (or if you number the keys from left to right it's 10 8 5 6 1)

The first set of notes would repeat twice then continue but hopefully these few notes might jog someones memory.

lol You need to go 9, 10, 8, 1, 5, for Close Encounters,

Solero: As a musician as well as a 70s/80s TV addict, I thought I might be able to help. But alas, no. I will run it over the brain cells for a while and let you know if the light bulb flashes!

It sounds to me like 'OXYGENE' by Jean Michel Jarre.

It does sound like "Oxygene" and I think there may have been an ITV programme about mdeicine called "Where There's Life" that used it as a theme tune.

'Oxygene' is in a minor key; C minor I think. So on that link, you would have to go 8 5 2and a half 5 1

Even starting on 'E' or '10' as Solero suggests, it doesn't work out.

I really want to know what this theme tune is now

Yes that was it! I was racking my brains to remember which prog this theme tune was on.
Where There's Life was a really interesting prog starring Dr Miriam Stoppard, Dr Rob Buckman ( saw him once at London Zoo ) and the great eccentric Magnus Pyke.
                        But is this Solero's prog?

Wow you guys have saved my sanity. That is indeed the song, I can't honestly say I remember the program but it was a long time ago and I never actually watched it past the theme tune.

But hey, I'm greatful that you took the time to reply. I've even set it as my ringtone

As well as Where There's Life Oxygene was also the theme tune for Tomorrow's World for a while.

And - I might be wrong - I think it was also used on Bodymatters.
