TV series 80s - lovestory set against WWII

Hi,

I just can't find the title of a British TV miniseries from - I think - the (early) eighties. I was really young but I can remember some of the story. It goes something like this in my memory:

Two people madly in love just before WWII. Then the war breaks out. She ends up in France in the resistance or as an OAS secret agent or something. He also goes to France in search of her. I think he finds her. However, she has an affair with a german officer (to get information from the germans). The german officer is killed.

She: an actress with long curly hair (in the series)
He: brownhaired guy.

The series was shown in the Netherlands (I am dutch).

Really don't know how it ends or if my memory is correct. What I do know is that I cant stand what the title is of the series for several years.

Please help!!!!

Is it 'We'll Meet Again" with Susannah York? I remember watching this as a pre-teen with my mam adoring it.

A quick look on IMDB says it was 13 episodes and made in 1982.

The other thing that sounds similar was Christable, which starred a young Liz Hurley as a British ex-pat living in war time Germany.

My Mum like liked it, but all I can remember about it is she hides an escaped American airman & gets involved in a failed bomb plot to kill Hitler.

This is the series I have been looking for. Think there was a tenage girl who parents were very rich( and owned the local stately home) she could speak french. The boy worked as a reporter at the local paper. They meet at a folly on a hill. She became a secret agent in WWII. He was sent to kill a German officer she was "seeing" and ended up crashing through the ceiling into the bedroom they were in. Think this was 1979/80/81.

No not Winds of War .. just watched that. Was set in England and a bit in France.
