    I know you're joking but that was the span of the series, at one year a week from autumn 1987 to spring 1988.

    The series spanned several generations Tony. Have a click on the related vids to the right (on YouTube), see if it's any of those. If not at least we've narrowed the field a bit.

    Ah, as good as that looks I'm afraid it's not the show. This was a really poor family, living in workhouses, I think the uncle was ginger

    No, it wasn't midnight is a place. The uncle was very fond and loving and didn't own anything either. I've had a look but can't find anything in the way of screen images etc for The Way We Used To Live so I could say yay or nay

    I'm pretty sure that was a series of How We Used To Live. They went to Harrogate, yes? And they were shown 'taking in the waters' of Harrogate Spa...
