Early 70s drama, name please?

I can only remember two scenes due to my age at the time of viewing.

1. There are some children in a forest or similar, there is a landslide and one girl (aged about 14) gets trapped under a tree and dies.:cry:

2. The other children are looking at her grave in the churchyard.

I think the series was set in some bygone days (I seem to remember clothing like that in the Railway Children).

It was a really popular programme at my school, must have been 1974-1976 or I think I would have remembered more.

You are spot on!

I had a feeling that it was an Australian drama but I wasn't sure so I didn't include it in my post.

The Wikipedia entry shows that it was shown in 1973 when I was five, which is why my memory is so vague. I had searched extensively on the net and checked with my older sister who also watched it but we got nowhere. How did you find it - and so quick? I have been looking for months!

Thank you for finding it, I will now try to locate any clips or DVDs.

The 7 Little Australians was one of my favourite series when I was growing up. It was a popular book here in Australia too.
