I'm trying to remember the name of a mini series from the late 70's or maybe early eighties.
It is set in the east end of London and follows the life of the main character (I think his name was Sam) from his childhood through the war years and into the modern era, focusing on the changing face of the east end/Docks area of London.
The show finished up with him refusing to leave the home he grew up in even though the rest of the street had been knocked down for redevelopment.
I believe it was shown on a sunday evening but cant remember if it was shown on the BBC or ITV.
Any help would be much appreciated.
