cowboy cartoon character

I'm trying to find the name of a cartoon character. He was a cowboy(?) and looked a bit like Desperate Dan but thinner. He had a prominant chin and creases/dimples and dark hair. I seem to remember him wearing a cowboy hat? A friend of mine looks like him and I want to find the name. I thought it was Desperate Dan but when I looked him up on Google images it's not him. It's also not Dan Dare. But I seem to have thought he was called Dan...?
