Going Straight

I was watching an episode of Porridge the other day, for the umpteenth time. Always a pleasure, but for all its repeats the spin off has never been shown (as far as I know) again.
I've always assumed it was because it was rubbish.
Was it?

Absolutley not, in my opinion. The trouble was, I think, that the comedy of Porridge came out of the fact that Fletcher was reacting against an institution. In Going Straight, they had to try and find a new angle, an I expect that nothing they did could ever match the genius of the original series.

I remember liking it though. I still have the theme music somewhere. The lyrics are hysterical.

Was it just the one series?
I can see how the dynamic of Porridge would be lost on their release: sitcoms are mostly based on people being stuck in some way.
But I just thought it funny that the sequal, if you like, of such a loved and often-shown prog is never broadcast.
