Late 70s Kids TV programme ???!!

Ok - This has been bugging me for ages -

I think it was shown on ITV in the late 70s (possibly early 80s) in the after school TV slots. The programmes central theme was a french window that had on it a warped peice of plastic that "things" could be seen through - dont ask me what was seen but it was supposed to be scary! The programme was a drama type but I cannot remember the story.

Any help would be appreciated!
