Help! Trying to remember the title of a 70's kids programme

Myself and my wife were discussing old kids TV programmes with ghosts (ie Ghosts of Motley Hall, Rentaghost, Nobody's House) and that got me thing about a tv programme I used to watch as a kid.

I think it was a BBC programme, and it was about a young girl (living in a village), who befriended a witch.

That is all that I can remember about the programme, but I do remember it was pretty scary. I've looked everywhere on the net, but have been unable to find anything, please help!
