  • Spoof Documentary Series - Early 1990s

I remember once seeing a series of spoof documentaries. Often it took a few minutes to notice things were a bit too tounge in cheek to be real.

It was presented by a man in a black suit & sunglasses, who would narrate as well as appearing on screen. He looked a bit like Victor Lewis-Smith but the humour wasn't VLS's style.

It was made around 1990, but due to the grainy film used it looked older. I mostly watched it around 1999 during repeat. The one I remember most was about life at sea.

Could it have been "This Is David Lander" or "This Is David Harper"?

One featured Stephen Fry, the other Tony Slattery:

That's the one I was thinking of! This Is David Harper was Tony Slattery, not People Like Us. Wondered why he didn't get a mention when I googled it. Thanks for clearing that mistake up DeptfordDraylons
