I suppose they could have made more once they got there money back.
Or maybe they didnt want to do more

i presume they cost a lot to make, but must have been re-run enough times to make their money back.

For years postman pat had a similar amount of episodes repeated many times.

It's like Mr Benn, there was only 14 episodes of that yet it was repeated each and every year from 1971 onwards, making it the most long-running childrens show behind Blue Peter.

Pigeon Street was first shown on BBC1 / BBC2 in 1981. It was a series of 13 animated adventures each lasting about 15 minutes. The adventures concerned the people and animals of Pigeon Street, a row of terraced houses with many pigeons living on the rooftops.
The 13 shows were initially split into two "seasons". The first eight episodes were originally aired from February 10th to March 31th 1981 and the last five episodes were originally broadcast from November 19th to December 17th 1981, following on from a re-run of the first eight episodes.

I loved Pigeon Street at the time and have watched a few episodes back on Youtube.

What surprised me most when watching it on Youtube was the political and social commentary, including things like 'Council cutbacks' and unemployment in several episodes. Made it quite refreshing that primary school television was mentioning such things, maybe something for the parents of the early 80's

the music was good.
the narration was good.

overall just a really good show.
eps did not last long but they where quality.

I used to watch Pigeon Street. Looking back, it's amazing that the street wasn't covered with Pigeon poo.

Long Distance Clara was married to the chef.

That was definetley one of those shows you only really saw when you were sick off school, i think it was on about 1.45 on BBC 2 just before You and me.

Another of my childhood favourites.
I mainly remember watching it when off school ill.with a tray of soup and bread on my knee.
There was Dr and Mrs Glossop, Neighbours Daisy and Rose and twins Polly and Molly.
My Favourite character was long distance Clara who had her own special song
and who can forget Mr Macadoo ?
