    the one i remember being shown in the UK in the early 80's was this one,

    i remember the music was quite melancholy and it seemed to fit the feel of the stories very well, i had read a lot of the books at the time ( UK translation ) and had loved them dearly, i bought my son a couple when he was growing up

    This version was superior to the cartoon one IMO, i love that creepy eastern bloc animation feel like the judderman advert for Metz in the 90's.

      Great to see so many Moomin fans Wonderful. Ah the Snorkmaiden now more is flooding back. Think I prefer the earler versions.

        Hearing the theme tune has taken me right back. I always thought it was a weird tune even then but it does sound Scandinavian to me now if that makes any sense. I didn't know it was foreign when I was little, even though it says 'Written by Tove Johansson' in the opening credits. I certainly didn't know any Toves in my school lol.
