Aw those are class photos Moonvisage, thanks for those. My sister and I got girls' annuals,...but my nan used to keep old editions of Whizzer and Chips, Beano and Dandy, etc from her grandsons on my dad's side. I used to love when she'd arrive with a big bagful of them.
I look out for old annuals at car boot sales and regularly check ebay. Great memories.

I used to get the Beano Book for Xmas (& still have), but was also given a few others over the years (most of which have gone in charity bags).

Marvel used to produce annuals mostly of reprints from their comics, I remember having a Transformers one & my brother a Star Wars book a few years earlier.

Great pics. I had some of those as well. Pelephant was one of the first I remember receiving. Mostly used to get "flavour of the month" tv tie ins. The only ones I got religously from mid 70s were Shiver and shake and Dr Who.

WOW! That is a brilliant picture.I wish someone in my family had taken photos of me with my presents and gifts. Those were the good old days of Spiderman, when the original cartoon was still showing, with that brilliant theme tune.

It is a shame i had to be in such a rush to take the pictures,as a lot of the time, the natural light shone on them, and has obscured some parts of the cover.
Just looking at the pictures again,i think it may be the flash on the camera, not natural light.I have a Nikon D70,so the flash just pops up.

The one we had and I had forgotten until now, was the Victor with that great big fish on,1968 was before my time so that was probably a jumble buy

My mother use to buy loads of annuals every year, and until very recently,we kept every single one of them.It was wonderful at christmas time, lounging around reading these fun books.I am unsure of the date of the Black Bob Annual,as there is no date in it.After studying it,i think it may be quite older than the 70's,as the quality of drawing and ink used,is incredible quality and so heavily detailed.

We almost certainly had at least three or four of them in our house, or in my Nan's cupboard, she use to but us loads from the church jumble sales And of course they made great stocking fillers at Christmas

Shame Annuals dont have adverts in them!
