Do you really believe the other side without provocation would launch so many ICBM's, subs and ships knowing that we would have no option to launch as well? It would break our MAD Treaty (Mutually Assured Destruction) not to mention the end of the world as we know it.

              Re: C & a

C & A was a great department store - in the last few years of it's existence I recall it "sort of@ tried to rival Debenhams and made a good job of it too, from, what I can recall - re 1993-1996-ish!

I have heard it said that Primark is the up-dated version of it ... but sadly I can not disagree more!! C& A had class and qaulity items - put simply Primark is the worst kind of department store there has ever been and just looks like a dumpit-site I think/feel!!

In my early years of work I bought many suits from C&A. Unfortunately some wag of a colleague christened me "Man at C& A". Which stayed with me even long after they disappeared from the UK.
The reason for their fall was believed to have been that their designers, being based in Europe, weren't in tune with the desires of British women.

I still remember the C&A in Queen Street, Cardiff. It became Primark, then it moved opposite, now it's Matalan. I'd say many people may remember one of C&A's brands: Clockhouse.
                    Here's another one: Honey.

I recall this was a long-running joke against people who shopped in C & A for many years! Why - I don't know ... as for a time I found them a seriously good rival to Debenhams and on a par with BHS for certain (who I never still expected to be still going). I think that without doubt - it was a rather very un-fair tag/un-fair press against C & A shoppers

Same here, C & A clothes seemed to be as good quality as the other high street retailers.
