If I can provide people with ideas I will - it is nice to meet a fellow person wqho has interests on subjects, like you with Army-type attire (not as I like it), but it is nice to know it is not considred odd as I have interests that could be deemed a-similar

Yes I can tell you have similar interests/outlook and I like that. This is a great forum as it has blokes like you.

Stockport used to have both a Famous Army Stores & an independent military surplus shop, both long gone, but I've still got an FAS bag around somewhere.

I am sure there’s at least one Army surplus store in central Manchester, if not more. But there used to be one in every High Street in the 70s and 80s.
