Weekend box of chocolate and candies In the centre of the box would be the orange and lemon slices, there would be a chocolate lime one, a nougat one , a praline type thing. They came in a white box with bright colours on it.Made by Mackintosh - just like Quality Street, Highland Toffee bars and Rolo's
White box and all those pretty coloured candies and chocolates! A work of art really. And there was a square fudge wrapped in red with lots of little coloured printed squares on it?
Dad would sometimes bring a box home .Was the stamped plastic holder for the sweets red instead of the standard browny/purple plastic?
Go on, put your nose in an imaginary box and breathe in the smell? Delicious............
Does anybody remember a box of chocolates called Weekend - this would be in the early 70s, I always used to get a box off a certain auntie for my birthday - I remember they had sweets that looked liked lemons covered in sugary crystals - I didn't like them at all. No-one seems to remember these except me and my Mum.
Apologies for posting something already mentioned - haven't seen those chocs in years, brought back memories of the 70s (although didn't much care for the chocs) - have looked online before for photos but never found any.
I remember the week-end box of chocolates, one thing you have got to give them is that they were trying to be different from the usual box of choccies!
My mum and i used to share a box of these regulary. I remember the box had a white background and originally a picture of some of the contents in the middle. I used to love the green candy one which i think was a creme lime covered in a light sugary shell and chocolate lines on it. It's a pity that most choc boxes in the uk seem to consist of truffle or nuts only these days. Come back cherry brandy, fruit creams and softer fillings !
