Sugar Smacks

Now who ate these for breakfast then? I seem to recall they were the forerunner of Sugar Puffs, Joe 90 and Mr Spock were on the boxes and Jon Pertwee's Doctor too.

Sugar Smacks were home to my favourite 'free inside!' cereal prizes ever - Crater Critters! Mr.Spock was on the box at the time (early 70s) and I'd hassle Mum to open the box as soon as we got back from the shops and empty the contents out in a big bowl to get the critter! Funny, I sort of lost interest in eating the cereal then.

That was the appeal, the toy, figure inside, I've still got Thunderbirds figures from the 's, and Doctor Who cards from Weetabix fromt he 70's

There are a few sites dedidcated to Crater Critters. I was trying to remember these for years!! I had Bleep and Booster in my head (from Blue Peter),I'm sure they did these in Sugar Smacks too.
I remember Jon pertwee on the front and Joe 90 too.. with badge giveaways

I've still got a Brains and Alan from Thunderbirds, the series, little plastic figures from a ceral, but not sure which one.......

Lack of a sweet tooth caused by a fear of sugar cubes impregnated with drugs @ school has obviously allowed me to miss out on a whole series of collectables! Ah well will have to make do with the thunderclap from the Dandy

I've got all but two Crater Critters. Alas, they're the usual two 'holy grail' ones - King Crater and Upsy-Downsy and as they go for silly money (well, the king with his crown intact, at least) I'm not likely to see them any time soon, either
