They weren’t always frozen though. Snip off a corner & drink the juice. I definitely remember lime as well as orange, but not blackcurrant.

Finally! I’ve been trying to convince my younger sisters that Mambos did exist. They didn’t sell Jubblys round our way when I was young in the mid-60s. We used to tear off a corner and suck the juice out until it was white ice.

The only sweet which was pyramid-shaped that I can think of was Terry's Pyramint back in the 1980s, but that was chocolate and not an ice lolly. Kenneth Williams of course did a Dracula or Frankenstein-alike voiceover in the adverts about "mummies" and the like. I know it was not that.
Welcome Mambo as well!

In case anybody comes across this, they were called Mambos. They def did orange, maybe blackcurrant and possibly lime. I used to love them.

New here but already love this forum!
Quick question...
I really liked an ice lolly in the UK in the 70s but can't remember the name.
It was in the shape of a pyramid.
The wrapper was a paper carton (like a milk carton but of course in the shape of a pyramid).
The ice itself was green I think.
Anyone know the name... gotta know!!
...a green pyramid-shaped ice inside a paper carton...
Many thanks :-)
UK 70s... still love you!!

They were called Mambos in our neck of the woods.

Everests were wonderful - somewhere between an ice-cream and a sorbet in consistency. Not widely distributed (I only knew of one corner shop in South London which carried them) so highly prized.

I have fond memories being about 6 years old near to the silver jubilee in 78, it was scorching hot and tony bell the ice cream van came, at least 5 were sold on our street, I believe they were called jubbly's the way I remember it is to visualise david jason as del boy holding one when he says 'lovely jubbly'.
