Brilliant thread. What fantastic pics! I had forgotten what Walkers used to look like.
Had forgotten Smiths Jackets completely - the moment I saw them I thought 'oh yeah, the best crisps ever'. I must have been so blinded by the original McCoys (back before burnt equalled good), that those homemade looking wonders just drifted away.
they sure were, I use to buy a packet each lunch time at school, oh how I wish I'd stored an empty bag away, its proving to be a very hard packet to find
I used to think that it was sausage and tomato flavour that tasted like Hedgehog flavour crisps.
But the sight of that Golden Wonder Savoury Sausage packet makes me think that that was the culprit - would tie in better with the pork fat flavouring.
Can anyone remember the original flavours of Monster Munch? Wasn't one tomato flavour. I remember tomato flavour snaps!
I remember those too. I think the original orange bag was "saucy" (i.e. ketchup) flavour, but sadly they were replaced by smoky bacon. We used to buy six-packs and my dad reckoned I ate too many crisps, so he hid them in the oven without telling my mum. Later she put the oven on to heat, and a little while later was furious to find the oven dripping with melted plastic. He never hid them again!
Did no one pick up on the Snaps question? I remember these being the same as Quavers, but with a tomato sauce flavour. Harry H Corbert (Steptoe) voiced the animated dragon ad..."they melt in your mouth"
