  • Snickers is getting rebranded as Marathon!

It's a limited time only thing, though.

Great news indeed - I love the idea!

I am really pleased that Company's still on occasion see sense and pay homeage to brands at times

Is the recipe just the same?

What is the point if it's not?

The point is that most of us here are fond of reminiscing about the good old days - which included Marathons!

I still call it Marathon. My children are bemused.

Hope they're as big as the old marathons
The only thing to look forward to is the past

At least Walkers Crisps have never been known as "Lays" in the UK.

Funnily enough, the difference between the words marathon and snickers made me think of this: when I watched the London Marathon earlier on this year, they make referece to the "Women's Marathon" - if we changed the word marathon to snickers, we sould get "Women's Snickers" which sounds so much in a Two Ronnies "Fork-Handles" way like saying "women's knickers"!

I often joke that if I am looking for Wagon Wheels these days, I always try and bring a microscope with me, whereas back in the day, I used to stand well back to view them. I blame metrification and shrinkage, circa around 1988 myself.

I never really knew why marathon became snickers.

                    Or opal fruits to starburst.

Is it some sort of american thing.

                      I wish I knew.

Galaxy is also known as Dove.

I wouldn't like eating Dove in the UK as it would taste rather horrible - it is a bit soapy - and not as in soap in the Family Fortunes sense either! Les Dennis asked a contestant to name a soap (opera) and came up with Dove! At least Coronation Street was sponsored by Cadbury's for a few years.

I think that Marathon has been Snickers in borh America and Europe for donkey's years.

Jif was a bathroom cream cleaner in the UK, but a brand of peanut butter in the USA - probably the reason why it changed to Cif over here.
