  • Kelloggs soldier freebie band, anyone know em?

I did a search and couldn't find these mentioned, but that is possibly because I am simple and probably missed it
Anyway, wondered if anyone had these when they were a kid? I **think**they were given away with cereal in the '70s?
Just wondered if they made memories for anyone

Only info I could find suggests these are 60's items.
I certainly don't recall them from the 70's

Kelloggs did another set of soldier freebies in the seventies - they were grey. They included a Scottish Highlander (in a kilt, of course, waving his sword above his head like a madman), a Spanish warrior with his spear formally by his side, and an English Crusader with his sword drawn, about to chop someone's head off, apparently.

I ended up with six: three Highlanders, two Spanish warriors and one Crusader. Rather than make them fight, I liked to make them do acrobatics. My favourite was the human pyramid - holding them in position - the three Highlanders at the bottom, the two Spaniards in the middle and the Crusader at the top.

            I was a strange child.
The present is a foreign country. They do things differently here.

OK, I remember getting something like these in perhaps Rice Crispies. It was a blue Noddy figurine, and I must have been 5, 1970!

Seem to recall it having a stamp on the bottom? Kelloggs?

Yes, I remember those, too: the Noddy characters. I once took Big Ears to school with me and, in the classroom, showed it to the boy sitting next to me. The teacher snatched it away, shoved it in her desk drawer, and I never saw it again. She probably meant to give it back to me at the end of the day, but forgot about it.

Back to the soldiers: sorry, before anyone corrects me, I'm getting mixed up - the Crusaders were Spanish, not English - I don't think the English ever got involved with the Crusades. Must have been tired last night - and medieval history isn't one of my areas of expertise.

They didn't? What was Richard the Lionheart off doing then?

Yes, the English were very much part of the crusades.
