According to my mother I was kept under control whilst out in public in a harness and reins....and no it wasn't last year! Apparently a lot of toddlers were "restrained" this way in the early 70's. I've not seen this practice for years. Can you still buy a harness and reins for small children??

Re: Toddlers under restraint!
Don't know if you can still get them now but I had a harness and reins. It was hanging around the house long after I'd outgrown it - used to wrap it around myself when I was playing 'rock climbing' (on the garden wall lol) because of all the clips and buckles.1976 Vintage

Re: Toddlers under restraint!
My kids both had reins and thats in the last 10 to 8 years, they came with their high chairs, you could use them to fasten them in the chair then there was the lead you could clip on and off.
Very useful until the child tires then they just sort of hang/dangle off them refusing to move!Heather
