Anne Nightingale features listeners' letters on almost any subject.
Here are two recent letters to Mailbag, both from male listeners:
"Women are equal (almost) to men. so why shouldn't they be conscripted? The author of last week's junk of telephonic bigotry seemed to think that women should do the safer jobs, such as being radar operators, whilst their 'equals' are out on the front lines lugging guns and having their heads blown off. She wants equality as long as she doesn't get hurt. Hypocrite!"
"I like the idea of this current wave of men looking feminine, wearing more adventurous and less conventional clothes, eyeliner and blusher. I think it's easy to criticise the outspoken and the outrageous, but it's about time the nondescript, straight and conventional bands and people were put down as well."
The Mailbag phone-line [number removed] is open every Wednesday from 7.0 until 10.0 pm

Major-General H. G. Woods (retired) discuss the subject of National Service and ask such questions as: Should National Service be enforced again?
Should it apply to both men and women?
Would such conscription improve juvenile delinquency?
How would it affect students who wish to continue their education? Would they have to do their service before or after earning their degrees, or would they be exempted from service?
How long should a term of service last-for instance, two or five years? Andy Peebles referees Radio l's open forum-an opportunity for schools and clubs to choose a subject, provide a panel and even pick the music. The course of true love never does run as smoothly as we would wish, but for Dickon and Alexis the prospect is improving. Too much love from too many is a problem for Jeremy Tyson ; his Head-master has advice to give, but Matt Prior has his own plan. Little love is lost this week between Liz and Milton Monk at the Herald, but for Gray MacFarlane there is no time for love when he has a story to pursue about a uro seen in the sky over Hampstead Heath.
