There's a sound that can't take me back because I never hear it any more. Factory hooters. Swan Hunter's ship yard in Wallsend had one and you could hear it from mine if the wind was right. Other factories around had them too and they all went off at 7:30am, always a few seconds apart and with slightly different pitches. It brings back memories of lying in bed on cold, dark winter mornings and knowing I had to get up for school when I heard them.
