    Acker of "Strangers On The Shore" song fame from the 1960s has passed away aged 85 years of age

    My abiding memory of Acker is the song I mentioned above which in many way's I found so much like Albatross by Fleetwood Mac in it was instroment based generaly

        I remember Acker's name but ask me what any of his instrumental pieces are called I fail to remember. But I do like his music.

        Anyway.... here's Acker's obituary in The Guardian:

        Do you really believe the other side without provocation would launch so many ICBM's, subs and ships knowing that we would have no option to launch as well? It would break our MAD Treaty (Mutually Assured Destruction) not to mention the end of the world as we know it.

          Sad news:

          Stranger On The Shore is one of those tunes that you only need to hear once & you'll always remember it.

          Another good one by him was Petit Fleur, which I remember being featured on the Golden Oldie Picture Show.
