Shane has sadly passed away today age 65. For me he was/is the greatest Singer from Ireland ever - pure and simple

The Fairytale Of New York song with Kirsty McCall just put him into legendary status with the best Xmas Song ever

What a shock (though not a suprise I guess) given Shane's Health woes this is

I wonder what the probability of Fairytale of New York being this year's Christmas Number One is now that McGowan is no longer with us? To tell you the truth when Kirsty McColl died I thought that it would make it to the top in that year as well as a tribute.

And if that is the case, I hope that Political Correctness doesn't stop the word "faggot" being used in the lyrics - Herbert Hill Brain would have defended its use no doubt.
