  • Rip Former England Manager Sven-Goran Eriksson

Sven-Goran Eriksson has passed away aged 76 years old. I knew Sven was very ill indeed, but this is the biggest shock ever that Sven has passed on so quickly - more so after articles in the weekend paper that he was too ill to walk round a Lake Sven loved so dearly ... and too only a few days after Sven made a goodbye style video

    RIP Sven-Goran Eriksson

It was on the cards because he was ill for quite a while, and so it wasn't to be too unexpected. The fact that it happened a month after England losing in the finals of Euro 2024 and Gareth Southgate resigning as manager, feels like a huge blow to English football. And of course, his legacy as the first non-British person to manage the England football team will reasure him a place in national history and respect.

Someone either in Private Eye or on some politcal forum mentioned that the former Conservative MP for Welingborough, Peter Bone (who had a successful recall petition against him last year after allegations of bullying and sexual misconduct) was not just a Eriksson lookalike but also a doppelganger of the late England manager! They looked like the same person!

I've everything I need to keep me satisfied
There's nothing you can do to make me change my mind
    I'm having so much fun
    My lucky number's one
    Ah! Oh! Ah! Oh!

Sad news, I can remember he managed to get a bit of stability to the England team after having a few different managers in a short time.

Indeed, he was a brilliant Manger - probably in the top 3 after

        1. Alf Ramsey/Gareth Southgate

.... and then I'd put Sven joint 2nd with Terry Venables
