i can remember making paper chains for the class party back in the 70's...........books of coloured strips where you licked them to stick together.......this was long before the invention of the foil decoration

Ihad never really thought too much about Xmas at Primary School when thinkin about past times, until I noticed this thread - but for sure what happy memories of when at that age you never had time to worry over thing's. I recall just before Xmas - amking cards for you Guardian's or Parents and then making Crackers from Toilet Roll holders.
I think they are such beautfiul nice fun thing's to do as kid - perhaps all this was before I was aged 9 years old easy - about 5 or 6, may-be i'm remembering the past too happily but for sure they were special times even if my memories of them are not as clear in my mindset as I believe.
The Xmas Party's at Primary were special I recall as well too, we never had 1 at Secondary School I recall well sadly.Leave a comment:

It's essentially the same now, but notes are sent out saying food shouldn't be sent in unless it is in a hermeticially sealed shop-bought packet. Bearing in mind kids will still eat dirt if bored enough, this depresses me!
We had a brilliant Xmas party at school two years ago, the Dj was super enthusiastic and started to throw pressies into the crowd, taking out three kids quite brutally!Leave a comment:

Christmas at primary school
Just wondering what memories people have about Christmas at school in the 80's. For our party we all had to bring in food from home, don't remember what games we played, but 'father christmas' would ring the school bell and come round giving out presents, who we found out in the later years was the care taker. I remember the head lighting candles on a wreath in assembly, and sewing a stocking. : )
