I did exchange Christmas cards in recent years with a woman who was a girl in my class, and there are two former teachers that I hear from once a year for the same reason. If you have seen my 2018 thread, I was in touch with someone who I went to school back in the mid to late 1980s that I got in touch with for my 40th.
I used to wear glasses and when I finally stopped wearing them just before I reached 18, I stopped being recognised. Sheer bliss! It's a lot better than wearing a paper bag on the head.
