well, a few brought a smile to my face there
Ones I remember are, forgive the spelling:-

      Rain rain faster
      ally ally aster

You would get a group of boys and have arms around each others shoulders forming a line and march around the playground in a goose step fashion singing-

Anyone in the way gets a big kick (and repeat, anon! Until the dinner ladies stopped us....sorry miss.)

Not a song but do you remember bumps, OUCH

his seems to be a version of this one:
          Yellow matter custard,
          Snot and bogey pie
All mixed together with a dead dog's eye
Snotty green jam - spread it on thick
Wash it all down with a cup of cold sick

                    Re: Playground Songs!

Have just read through this thread for the first time. I remember another hand-clapping one that went: 'A sailor went to sea, sea, sea, to see what he could see, see see.' It's very well known, so I won't write out the whole thing here!

Does 'dipping' come into playground songs? You know; when you 'dipped' or 'chose' people for a game.

                    "Ipper-dipper-dation,
                    my operation,
                    How many people
                    at the station?
One, two, three, (etc, depending on how many people in the group)
                    O.U.T. spells out"

                      Benny Hill did one

Mary had a little watch, she swallowed it one day
then she took some castor oil to pass the time away.
The castor oil did not work, the time it did not pass
so if you want to know the time just look up marys
                      ...........................SKIRT.

Best one was Alexei Sayle on the young ones.

Nutty Normans come to play, so hide the breadknife.

and finally........some graffiti from the inside of a toilet at the swimming baths i used to attend as a kid.

Don't come here to sit and wonder, s*it and p*ss and f*rt like thunder.

Did anyone else do: 'Put your spuds (fists) up'.
'One potato, two potato, three potato, four,
Five potato, six potato, seven potato, more'.
Counting fists to see who was It.

                                And the old favourite:
'Ip dip penny chip, you are not It'.
