I think it was in that storm that Gorden Kaye was injured when a billboard was blown onto his car. I can remember Allo Allo was taken off the air for a week or two while he recovered.

That's right - I often associated Gorden Kaye more with the accident he had when he was driving in the 1990 Burns Night storms rather than as Rene in 'Allo 'Allo. The previous series of 'Allo 'Allo was in 1989, and the next one was in 1991 - I assume that it was due to Kaye's accident in the storms which was the main reason why the BBC had held back a year until 1991 with regards to making a new series while he had time to get better. I have memories of the storms and it still being dark after school in January 1990 and going to the local newsagent around the corner and buying some chocolate buttons or other chocolates for myself! And it was windy as well!

I do know that Gorden Kaye appeared on Happy Birthday Coronation Street - a celebration of 30 years of the soap opera in December 1990 (transmitted on ITV exactly 30 years to the very day - or indeed - 30 years to the very second since the first episode was seen) - back in 1970 he played Bernard Butler in the Street who was Elsie Tanner's nelphew and he was a guest on the show, telling Cilla Black about the character he played back then. I think it was his first TV appearance since his accident in January 1990, and you could see a slight mark on his forehead presumably where he was hit the most by the accident, or by an operation he had in response to it. Apart from that, he seemed to be OK and had more or less made a full recovery, and he had lived for almost exactly another 27 years after the accident.

      I'm having so much fun

It might have been a repeat that was delayed.

I don't think so - Wikipedia lists when the episodes of 'Allo 'Allo was first transmitted, and there were no new episodes between 1989 and 1991, coinciding with Kaye's accident and recovery.
