This thread is becoming boring and repetitive and it's now over.
If anybody has positive suggestions for improving the forum please post them in the suggestions section, thanks.

Re: Is it just me?.....
I've been a member here for 3 years and only posted 625 times. Others have been a member for less time and have posted thousands of posts but when you read these posts much of it is repetitive nonsense. I don't see the point. Again my opinion.

Re: Is it just me?.....
Why are things bound to be repeated? Surely if a new member searches for what they are looking for there would be no need to repeat a thread. In honesty though its not newbies that do it! Newbies posting new stuff is fantastic but members constantly posting the same stuff just reworded (usually incorrectly spelled) is boring and not needed imo. It also annoys others as can be seen in this thread and also the 'proof reading' thread. The quality of the postings on here is not what it used to be imo. I'm sure some members just post stuff for the sake of posting. I only post when I fell my comment is relevant and may be of interest to others. Not just cos I feel like inflicting some nonsense on other members!Originally posted by darren View Postthreads are bound to be repeated by new members as there are literallu hundreds of threads.
i regularly post on old threads.
do i get a kiss as well H.HEHE
I when starting a thread will enter it into the search option to see if it exists.Last edited by stuckinthe80's; 18-06-2012, 08:08.

Plus the older members here have got to accept that newbies will want to talk about stuff that we already have.
But there are loads of old interesting threads here that would be great to see having newbies comment on and bringing them to the fore again. It's great to know that these repeat threads are merged to cut down on duplication.
In fact I'm going to go back through the threads this week and comment on some random old thread just for fun!!!!!

Re: Is it just me?.....
I have used the search facility on many occations, but in many cases of searching for simple things have failed to find what I am looking for,or have been given many threads which do not relate to what I am searching for.Often what I am serching for is mentioned but not in the title of the thread.I did not realise either that threads could be tagged.I will give it a go next time I put in a new thread.

Re: Is it just me?.....
I never knew that, but then again I've only created something in the region of 3 or 4 threads the whole time I've been a member. I'll keep it in mind the next time I create a thread.

Re: Is it just me?.....
if you click 'advanced search' you can just search thread titles rather than whole posts.
There is also a tagging system but no one uses it.

Re: Is it just me?.....
Topics could do with tagging so that searches turn up better results. I know when I searched to see if there was a crimes thread it turned up something like 11 pages of really unrelated topics. It would be such a pain to go through and add them to every single thread though.

Re: Is it just me?.....
To be fair searching doesn't always return the threads it depends on keywords used, not everyone is aware of the search facility or they may think they're raising something new. There will always be some element of repitition on this and any other forum you visit, that said it would be useful if members did use the search facility and we will continue to merge repeated threads if we spot them.

Re: Is it just me?.....
I think you're missing my original point. There should be no need to have threads merged by mods is people simply used the search facility first before starting a repeat thread. Otherwise the new repeated threads just appear boring and mindless.Originally posted by 80sChav View PostI think this is a truly excellent idea you have created here Huggie merging threads, it often is frowned upon I feel and think in/on other Forums. The best thing too is it keep's the threads new and fresh in a unique way I think. It is a good way. Thanks for your great efforts here and to HG and other mods if applicable.
