  • Do you think I should still pursue acting?

I only landed extra roles in some indie movies. I'm not knocking small budget movies, but they don't normally go anywhere, and they certainly don't make you feel like you've "made it" as an actor either. Finding a distributor is tough, so there have been movies I was in, yet I never saw them. Some people are that snooty on Facebook, that they will immediately block you just for asking. You know you're blocked when their page becomes suddenly unavailable. Meh.

Then you get sad losers who say things like, "You're just an extra!" Um, maybe try it yourself, you tool. Then maybe you'll see that it's never easy being on a film set.

Besides not having an agent or any contacts in the industry, I also have terrible anxiety, so it's hard for me to do anything. However, I did drama back when I was in college, and was lauded for my role as the Scarecrow, and had my picture in the news once. Although after I had a panic attack in late 2009, I didn't fully recover, and my stress has worsened because of conflicts with people being ignorant.

I'm 36, and about to turn 37. I also got slandered by people, and I don't really want to advertise my personal life any more online, as this guy in Australia has been sticking to me like a magnet. Uncredited parts are way more secretive. But then wouldn't you want your acting career known?

Years ago, I was supposed to have a few lines in a movie, and when my sister and I finally went to see it at a showing in 2018, I was briefly visible in the scene, just walking by. That was the only part where I recorded dialogue, but that was omitted. So I felt gutted.

I'm not sure what happened, really. I questioned the guy in charge about it. I'm sure somebody had been saying something to him, behind my back. Some actress who blocked me on Twitter got other people to decline me for roles, so it wouldn't at all surprise me.

The thing is, she was harassing me. But after I said something to her, she cried wolf, and got a non harassment order in the court. And my lawyer agreed they were taken the Mickey, yet he lost the USB drive I gave him with proof.

I don't know. Besides having autism, the movie business is full of nasty people anyway. It's a dog eat dog world now. I cannot even be bothered with women much now, as a lot of them just use their good looks to get over, and stamp on us men. I've tried to book escorts on AW, but they just mess me around.

P.S. I notice that my connection is blooming sluggish. But too bad.

I started a thread on the School Days part of the forum called Drama Lessons - you might want to have a look at that.

I did GCSE Drama in Year 10 and 11 at school and attended a Drama workshop on Saturday mornings in the early 1990s - in addition to that, my nephew has had a couple of parts on television when he was younger including a peak-time ITV drama.

I would have loved to have "tread the boards" and played characters and all that - this is also where my love of theatre musicals have come from, travelling all over the country especially to see one at a theatre. The way my life panned out had frustrated me like hell, and any ambitions that I wanted to do has gone completely out of the window. As recently as last year I was talking to my family about it - even extras are just as much part of the show as the main cast. The extras in the Rovers scenes in Coronation Street can be amusing for example.

It does seem that what might be straightforward is not as should be, and you have given a good example of that.

I've everything I need to keep me satisfied
There's nothing you can do to make me change my mind
    I'm having so much fun
    My lucky number's one
    Ah! Oh! Ah! Oh!

I hope you could continue it.

It sounds like you enjoy movies, but I do know that being an actor and a film fan can be two different qualities, and being a lover of films alone isn't always like my way ahead.

By the way, why does this guy on this other forum not have anything better to do than flood that site with rubbish, such as this?

My interest is mostly theatre, but I do enjoy films on television, and sometimes in the cinema - a film musical and a musical at the theatre can be quite different but the chances are if you like film an cinema, then you will like the theatre. The only differences are the different actors and the fact that one is performed live while the other one isn't.

I would just carry on doing what you do Batman - I think you'll strike Gold in time and rid yourselves of these snooby people, eve if you only get small extra part's, people become more noticed that way I always feel.

To me though you have donre very very well without an Agent and even certain agents can be rubbish, so it shows the progress your making is on track without Agents - but believe me I want to get more into extra roles and am struggling too, so your doing really well I think
