I just watched Markheim (1956) as I had not heard of this early R L Stephenson novel staffslad.. I can see how you could confuse the two.. even tho Markheim had no ghosts , authors or social do godders in it. It did have tho another excellent performance by Rod Steiger as Old Nick.

Arg I'm kicking myself. 2. is of course Nigel Green from Corridors of Blood and 5. is Grip of the Strangler. I should have remembered its alternate title of The Haunted Strangler.

Okay, will post a quiz later on...

        Here is a new quiz...

        1. Synopsis: The discovery of a strange skull in a field leads to possession, madness and devil worship in 17th century rural England. What was the film?

        2. In From beyond the Grave, what was the name of the antiques shop?

        3. Which actress, who played Lorimer Van Helsing's granddaughter, also starred in a cheap Alien clone. The film also starred Sally Geeson's sister.

        4. Synopsis: German WW1 submarine takes on survivors from a ship it has sunk and ends up discovering an unknown land full of strange creatures and primitive humans.

        5. Which actor, best known for his voicing of a popular cheese-loving animated character and one of the leads in a BBC sitcom that lasted over 30 years, helped to kick to death Dracula's disciple in Taste the Blood of Dracula?

        6. Which was the last of Hammer's 4 Mummy films?

          Blood On Satans Claw.

Do not recall precise name.. something like Nick & Knacks. But the shops motto was "Offers You Cant Refuse" Naturally when offered by Old Nick himself.

Have a feeling Joanna Lumley played that role but of which film are you speaking?

Is that Land That Time Forgot

          Need a think on this

Blood from Mummys Tomb. They should have stopped at The Curse.

staffslad please settle on four or at most five questions.

            1. Yes, Blood on Satan's Claw.

            2. No, it was something Limited, and the name was very appropriate for what the customers felt upon seeing the items for sale.

            3. Not Ms Lumley...the other Jessica.

            4. Yes, Land that Time Forgot.

            5. The voice character had a dog and on one occasion they went to the Moon.

            6. Yes, but if they had stopped at Curse, we wouldn't have seen Valerie Leon in surely her finest role...but agree that Shroud is forgettable and a pale shadow of Hammer's first Mummy film.

Okay, I will cut back to 4 questions.

Yes, the shop was called Temptations Limited

Joanna Lumley played Jessica Van Helsing in Satanic Rites of Dracula, but it was Stephanie Beacham that played her the year before in Dracula AD1972, and who also starred in the Alien clone, Inseminoid.

The actor who helped kick to death Dracula's disciple in Taste the Blood of Dracula was Peter Sallis. He voiced Wallace in the Wallace and Gromit animated productions, and was in Last of the Summer Wine for 30+ years.

                  1. Ronald Chetwynd-Hayes

                  2. Think it was Marcel Steiner

                  3. The Elemental

                  4. It was Madame Orloff, played wonderfully by Margaret Leighton.

I'll leave a new quiz tomorrow.

Never saw W & G in OZ.. never a fan of LOTSW. So Peter Sallis was an unknown to me.

No probs for you staffslad on mine. Well done. Figured 2 may have presented a bit of a think. I would never have known him. Yes.. Margaret Leighton is a delite. As weird an episode as that Elemental was I found myself believing it could actually happen.

                              Yes, Fisher is correct.

The bad twin was decapitated by Peter Cushing's character.
